He is our great contemporary metaphysical poet. When I read a poem by Jones, I think of Wallace Stevens\u2019s maxim from \u201cAdagia\u201d: \u201cPoetry is the gaiety (joy) of language.\u201d The cover art of Jones\u2019s Something Wonderful makes me think of Maurice Sendak.
