Joachim Ma\u00c3\u00aetre<\/a> as <a href=\"http:\/\/people.bu.edu\/whitakal\/Plagiarism\/Maitre's%20Letter%20to%20Silber.htm\">he denied his obvious plagiarism of a commencement speech in 1991<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/hnn.us\/comments\/62779.html\">Dean Bryan LeBeau posts a denial\/appology on the History News Network<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>But wait there&#8217;s more<\/strong> (and in cases like this unfortunately there usually is). An alert reader of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isthatlegal.org\/\">Eric Muller&#8217;s IsThatLegal.org<\/a> notices that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isthatlegal.org\/archive\/2005\/06\/umkc_plagiarism.html\">the small part of the LeBeau speech claimed to be original was lifted from a 1995 speech by Russell Baker in 1995.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanity.org\/printview.php?page=baker_at_connecticut&#038;sectionName=voices\">Baker<\/a> then <a href=\"http:\/\/cas.umkc.edu\/News\/news7.htm\">LeBeau<\/a> then <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanity.org\/printview.php?page=west_at_wesleyan&#038;sectionName=voices\">West<\/a>.<br \/>\nLeBeau&#8217;s favorite source seems to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanity.org\/\">Humanity.org<\/a> and in particular <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humanity.org\/voices\/commencements\/\">the commencement speech archive there.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Will Bryan LeBeau <a href=\"http:\/\/www.famousplagiarists.com\/history.htm\">join the other famous historian plagiarists<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Will he like Joachim Ma\u00c3\u00aetre claim:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/people.bu.edu\/whitakal\/Plagiarism\/BG%2010%20Sep%201991%20--%20Maitre%20Denies%20Plagiarism%20Again.htm\">&#8220;The definition of plagiarism in the academy as applying to faculty members is directed toward scholarly research, research papers and the like,&#8221; Maitre said. &#8220;I gave a talk, not even a formal speech, on the occasion of commencement . . . as the dean of the College of Communication, an administrative officer, not a faculty member.
