For those of us involved in searching via <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wide_area_information_server\">WAIS <\/a>and other now decade old searching schemes (back in the day when they were new), this is not a surprise but a relief. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dlib.org\/dlib\/march96\/briefings\/03gils.html\">Eliot Christian<\/a> has had a very long ride on GILS (he declined to comment on the story linked above), but will now have to consider how work done for GILS might fit with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2001\/sw\/\">W3C standards<\/a> and with current searching standards used by Google and Yahoo! Could these old school GILS problems point to similar problems with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Semantic_web\">the semantic web<\/a>?
