I don't know the innards and details of libggi, but yes, something like
that. When you run a libggi app under X, a window pops up called
"GGI-on-X", and that's where things happen. :)

Yes. This was supposed to be GGI's main target, but it took so long to
develop that the other developers made all the other targets we have now.
But GGI doesn't need just KGIcon or X. You can run it on svgalib, fbdev,
glide, etc. All the targets are listed in a file (targets.txt somewhere).

I don't think so. I've compiled it all myself. If you find a compiled
package, it is probably an old one :)
