Len says that if when he finds a plant that attracts pests
that he leaves it alone with the thought that it will keep
the pests off his other crops.

Some of the commercial orchards plant “trap crops” around
the orchard borders to attract and keep pests out of the
orchard. See “Pests of the Garden and Small Farm”, a
University of California publication, ISBN 0-931876-89-3.

Trap crops can do a good job in atrracting pests. They don’t
always do such a good job in keeping the pests out of the
orchard.
