They also make good birdfood, and thereby a good attractor of them, so
build/grow some bird habitat, provide water, and save yourself the hassle
(karma?) of killing them.
Getting used to a little damage helps.
And avoiding straw mulch on crops which are prone to slug/snail attack. This
would mainly be brassicas and some others (like corn) when young.
Id rather save the beer for me :-)
