Hi, everyone! Well, here in Indiana, zone 5-6ish, the Virginia peepers
are peeping just a bit at night. I get the message. Time for the first
gardening chores. I need some advice. I have had a big problem the
past 2 years with fungal disease killing and/or maiming my veggies, and
my hardy perennials. I have all the bug problems, also, and I think if
I could whip the fungal infection that is probably in my soil, my plants
would be healthy enough to fight other things more effectively. I do
not want to kill the beneficial microbes in the soil. Am building the
soil with compost yearly. Have a good big batch to use this year.
Should I treat the soil first, and if so, what with? I used Soap Shield
from "Gardens Alive"for fungus on the plants last year after home
remedies failed the year before. I would like to get the soil well this
year before I plant veggies, and put down this year's compost on
everything. Let's brainstorm!
Thanks. Becky
