Hi Michele,
You go, girl! (I have to ask where in NE Ohio as I was born and raised in
a teeny little village named Poland.) If you are anywhere near Poland, OH
( several miles south of Youngstown) try to visit the village woods, there
is a stunning flowering of Virginia Bluebells, Trilliums and other
ephemerals around this time. And, if you can, try to find a guy named
Randy Jones in the Youngstown/Mahoning County phone book- he knows
everything about the local ecology, flora and fauna.
I would also check with the Nature Conservancy, the Ohio DEC, any local
Audobon Society chapters, the Biology department at any local colleges or
universities, but Randy would be an invaluable resource.
Good luck
