Subject: biting bugs in Va. lawn??? From: "Jeffery R. Lindholm" <jrl6b@virginia.edu> Organization: University of Virginia Date: Thu, 04 May 00 16:49:47 Message-ID: <MOD$000504.28049@rec.gardens.ecosystems>
Hello:
I'm from Virginia, and we've got tiny invisible bugs in our lawn that
bite us on the ankles and legs in the summer months. The bites look
like bigger swollen mosquito bites, and they itch a whole lot, but
go away in about a half hour. It's pretty bad, so bad we can't walk
to the shed and back without getting bit up. Especially around dusk.
2 questions:
1) What are these bugs? I don't think they're chiggers because
chigger bites last for days, usually. The itch and swelling on
these is bad, but doesn't last long.
2) How can we get rid of them, hopefully without bad chemicals? Does
putting down lyme help?
