You won't catch it a couple of times... You will catch it once and then
it will know what a trap is and not go in again.

Your options seem limited for both you and the animal.

Trap it and remove it to a real distance away... and preferably so I've
been told, across a fair sized river. If you transport it by car, be sure
to have something very solid under the cage to catch the crap and prevent
it from tearing up the carpet.
