Besides turning the pile, it needs to be damp, like a wet sponge. There also
needs to be equal amounts of brown and green material. there are a lot of web
sites devoted to composting. I would search.
For a compost bin I use a trash can. The bottom is cut out and holes are
drilled into the sides. This cost less than 10 dollars. When I want to flip
the pile I just lift the trash can off and shovel it back in . The lid on the
trash can keeps in the moisture. I can make a trash can full of compost
within a few months.
