first always make sure that all fallen fruit is picked up and
destroyed don't use it in the compost, it can be desroyed by
placing fruit into black plastic garbage bags and hang them in
the full sun for a couple of days this will cook the larva. or
better yet feed the damaged fruit to chooks.

i use a male fruit fly wick that attracts and kills the male
this helps, no males equal no fertile females. i use honey in
water and vegemite in water to trap female fruit flies in soft
drink bottle traps.

all of the above has given me good results this past season.
