Last fall I planted 6 white pine trees (which were about 5 feet tall) in

a wooded setting. I used Espoma Holly-tone in the planting holes and
fed them twice since, in early spring and then again in summer. They
seemed to be doing well until about early July when I noticed a white
deposit on the branches and the ends of the limbs began curling. I
tried using a pepper spray to discourage whatever seemed to be feeding
on the trees but this didn't seem to help. Does anyone have any ideas?
What is the infestation? What should I do?

Thanks in advance,
Debbie
