Hello to all ,

I saw that after halloween there were many pumpkins left unsold,
hundreds of them. I have now gathered approx. ten thousand pounds of
them and put them under my bananas , shrubs , bamboo plants etc. I will
let them rot into the ground for green fertilizer. Am I correct in
assuming this will be a good source of nutrition for my plants ? If
so why do people normally throw them in the nearest dumpster ? what a
terrible waste !
Is the function of the pumpkin to feed the seed after it
germinates ?
