In this vein...I have seen good results for controlling raccoon damage from
grub digging by spraying with beneficial nematodes. When I worked as a
gardener, we sprayed every six weeks, and got pretty dramatic results. Milky
spore fugus (which is what I think is referred to above) is good on Japanese
beetle grubs and can last for many years. I think nematodes have a broader use
in that they are effective against almost all types of grubs. Nematodes must
be applied at certain temperatures, however, and must be watered in after
application.
