Honestly, I've never tried using them- usually I use broken clay pots or
stones. My gut feeling would be to not use them being that there has to be
some chemical content in them. Unfortunately, we're not scientists and
don't know the chemical makeup. Maybe call your local Cooperative Extension
office and ask them their opinion. I have to say that we have used them in
our greenhouses in the bottom of houseplants, but nothing ever edible. Good
