in New Jersey and 2.) When is it O.K. to plant bare root
roses.
The hardiness zones are based on average minimum temperatures:
New Jersey, as I read the maps is mostly Zone 7 meaning low
temperature zero to plus 10 degrees F with isolated pockets of
Zone 6 meaning 10 degreees below to zero degrees F.
Relative to planting bare root roses, they can go in anytime
after the danger of freeze has past. It's also a good idea to
hold off planting bare root roses until after the peak of summer
if you are gardening in a hot area.
