I finally made it to my hardware Mecca, Home Depot, and picked up
some 3x10' 1" chicken wire and also some smaller hardware mesh.
With some left-over 2x4s from when I built the compost bins, a
staple gun and the chicken wire, I made a 3x5' A-frame sifter.
Actually, it's more like only one side of an A-frame and a single
2x4 coming down the other side (more than enough to support it as
it's only 3ft. tall).

Anyway, I set it up and tossed a bin of compost at it twice (it'd
hit the wire and roll down, working pretty well). I ended up
with probably a wheelbarrow full of fine dirt and very small leaf
fragments (I didn't bother to collect it, but just left it in the
last bin).

After I came back inside, I reviewed the different sifter ideas
at (which I should have done first), and I think next time I'll
be putting the sifter on top of my wheelbarrow to work it with a
shovel instead of just throwing it and letting it roll down. I
know I can sift a lot more dirt and a lot easier that way.

Well, enough for today. I'm stiff and sore and thinking I'll put
my brain to use a little more before I just go on out and just
"do it."

(This post was actually stuck with the others here in my old
usenet reader which I've copied from and am now using Forte's
Free Agent reader to post with).
