I've got a set of three 5x5x4 compost bins, but not a large
amount of time to work them (but they do just fine even when I'm
not tending to them). During the winter months I'd been covering
them with a blue tarp to keep excess water out and the heat in.
Now that it's practically summer here in Central California
(well, we get occasional rain, but it's mostly hot and dry), do I
still need to keep them covered? When I turn them from one bin
to another with a pitch fork, I have my 3 year old spraying the
new pile, so it's nice and moist.
