First, I want to thank those who replied to my earlier post! Well, I planted
96 tomato plants last night (many varieties) and everything seemed to go
well. I was told by a farmer to spread out some bone meal powder onto the
soil and rake it in well. I did that and then starts the planting. After I
planted all the plants, I gave them a good watering. I noticed that the
water does not absorb well into the soil and puddles where forming around
the plants. O' boy is this a problem? Is there something I can do to fix
this. I read somewhere that if you put hay or some kind of mulch around the
plants it will help reduce standing water. Is this true or is there a better
way of doing this? I will take a snap shot today and try to attach it in
this NG if that is allowed in here. Once again Thank- you group for helping
me out this newbie! Take care! Jeff from CT.
