g'day,

here is a tip to planting pineapple tops that could produce fruit quicker and
also bigger fruit (that is what was said to me whe the tip was given to me).

twist the top off of the pineapple, then leave the top(s) lay around the yard in
the sun for 2 or more weeks.

peel away the bottom layers of leaves usually only the smaller leaves, peeling
too many away may cause the top to break and be of no use. when you peel the
bottom 3 or so layers of leaves off you will see the root buds, i usually then
peel a few more leaves off above those buds. i also don't put them in water
until they root i just plant them directly into the ground never lost a plant
yet.

plant the tops in an area where they will get full sun and be well drained. i'll
keep you informed as to how my latest planting go as things progress.

we where driving past a pineapple farm the other day they have all their tops in
those large crates that the fruit gets transported in and also piles of tops
just sitting there in full sun for weeks. also saw a recent planting as we drove
past another farm all his freshly planted tops looked like all the visible
leaves where dead. also this planting was done in the middle of our winter.

some areas have gotten to -4c this year.

anyhow good luck and happy pineapple growing.
