Hi! Do you have other plants in your garden that are not affected similarly?
If so I don't think it's likely it's soil contamination. The white leaves
are a symptom of a disease ie: powdery mildew. Holes in leaves of any
vegetable are almost always bug related. I'm not saying this is your problem
but the symptoms fit. Fertilizer does not to my knowledge cause either of
these symptoms, and the maple tree, other than harboring insects or disease
should not be the culprit either. You might find more help at the organic
gardening web site.....even if you don't garden organically, they have the
most comprehensive info and advise I've ever found. Also, if this IS close
to what your problem is, over fertilizing makes plants more suseptible to
disease and insects. Most veg plants only need fertilizing after
transplanting, at flowering time, and halfway through production. Unless
they're in containers of course. Hope this is of some help, there are many
remedies to fix the problems, but if your eggplant and cukes are forming
fine I wouldn't worry to much, plants are amazing at coping with disease and
insects! T. wrote in message
