I can't agree with you more. The number of deer killed on our highways
each year is appalling. The Minnesota Dept. of Natural Resources
estimates that 10,000 deer are killed on the highway each year just in
that state. This problem could actually be greatly reduced if the
highways dept. used the same deer repellent spray beside the highways
that the forest companies use on their seedlings.
That small investment alone could significantly reduce the human and
animal suffering caused by these collisions. It simply requires a
focus on prevention. But too many people think like your truck driver
and choose to go into "destroy" mode whenever there's a conflict with
nature.
