Thanks for posting the Japanese Beetle FAQ and information from this
newsgroup. I decided to try "collecting" the beetles in the EARLY AM
when they are more lethargic (as I was). This has been an incredibly
successful technique, though NOT enjoyable! They do not move much in
the early AM hours and every morning one is able to collect hundreds of
them. My husband and I decided against using the traps because we did
not want to attract beneficial beetles to the traps, nor did we want the
population of japanese beetles in the county attracted to our land! The
only advice I would offer to anyone is to drink your coffee before you
go out to the garden at 5:30AM. Prevents falling into bean tee-pees and
inadvetently stomping on squash. Of course, my husband traded walking
the dog for me doing the beetles. :-) Thanks for the tip Bill Robinson!
