Okay, I was at a Botanical Garden last week, far from home, but still basically the same
zone ... cold winters , etc.

I saw several very large rose bushes, and from a distance, I thought they were some sort
of crab apple tree ... when I got close, I realized they were rosehips ... they were
(comparatively) HUGE ... larger than walnuts or apricots ... in shades of red and orange
. these were shrub roses.

Any idea where I might fine out more about the roses with the *great hips* .... I asked at
the garden, but the owners weren't there, and the hired help didn't seem terribly enthused
about going back, in the pouring rain, to look with me .

Is this a species/cultivar thing?
