In my newly bought garden (zone 6 in MA, which had not been tended in the
past two years), I found dead leaves in the perennial beds, and I left them
there. We have had a drought here, and I had no watering system ready, so
the plants did not get watered.
Given all that, I find that they are doing very well.
I hear everywhere that leaves are not a good mulch, but my garden seems to
have done well with them. I plan to remove thoses and have a fresh layer of
maple leaves deposited in the next fall. Is this a mistake??
