Hi Adam---

You have all the basics down pat. You did not say what your light
source would be. If you use natural light be sure that you do not let
it get too hot in the tank, or you will cook your plants.. Use the very
best potting soil you can find---my favorite is by Hoffman and I get it
at Lowe's. I can't recommend any plants with out knowing how much light
your terrarium will get. When I do terrariums wih kids, I usually try
to use radishes----the kids love to eat what they have grown, and thy
are quick. Another favorite combination of mine is small leaved ferns,
african violets and creeping fig. These do very well under flourescent
lights, but will crowd the tank after a while. I always use a small
piece of driftwood or a rock to `decorate' my terrariums. Plain tap
water, left to sit out for a few days will be fine; but be sure to
water sparingly........it is easy to over do the water in a terrarium!

What kind of fish do you keep---african cichlids?

yours,

Debbie Jackson
