Vandy-
There is another shrub for you to consider------Thorny Eleagnus. It is
a wonderful hedge shrub that needs to be left unsheared for the best
effect, and it needds lots of room. It can be spaced on 10 to 12 ft
centers here in southern Miss, and in just a few years it will be 8-12
ft high. To get a denser hedge, I would recomend that you plant them
closer and possibly even consider a double row. It has wonderful aroma
in the fall, when it flowers. You must not confuse this with the
thornless variety that most garden centers sell---same plant, but no
thorns. I do know the problems you have with goats...first hand. Just
to be sure......you do know NOT to plant any azalea or rhodies around
your goats, right? If you need help locating some of these, let me know
and I may can help you. They propagate fairly easy. Good luck!
