I am about to plant 400 darwin tulips, which should come back year after
year. All bulb companies say that the soil does not matter, and I should
use their fertilizer 3 times per year. On top of other chemicals, they
also contain bone meal, and I am not touching that anymore. My garden as
been organically grown over the past 25 years. I have just moved in and
would like to continue that.

Is there a better way to have tulips thrive? I am having a bed dug, and
plan to put a few inches of compost on the bottom, mixed with my soil. What
shall I do?
