I have a campestre (Japanese Maple) hedge. It grows quite quickly (almost
too quick). Portions of it are shaded by mature trees and it all seems to
thrive at the same rate. It is quite full in the summer and since it is
deciduous, less private during the winter but still a fairly dense barrier.
Individual plants were placed in two rows about 18-24 inches apart and
trimmed appropriately. It lends itself to any height that you wish.
It's absolutely gorgeous in the summer. Sharon Wilson
