1. Most states have Native Plant Societies, look on the web.
Many sell native plants once or twice a year, most know where
to obtain them. The one I go to also tells how to propogate
them, but that's because western plants are often really
different from European or East-Coast natives in that regard.
(For instance, some are summer-deciduous.) Anyway, these
societies are extremely helpful, and also will have lists of
food plants for local native butterflies and other wildlife.
2. For East-coasters, the book _Noah's_ _Garden_ may be quite
helpful. I, a Californian, found it inspirational but not
at all helpful, since most of the specifics in the book are
very New-England-y.
