Although I agree with the rest of Bill's post, I must comment that sandy soils
(as I have in my garden) are frequently acidic, so steer manure may not be the
best ammendment. At least not solo. It would be prudent to get a soil test to
find out the pH of your soil before deciding on an amendment so as to avoid
acidifying what may be already acid soil.
