Hi. The best thing I can think of is to dig out (with every root) everything
witch you want to eliminate and later hoe off what will come up. The clou is
to do this on a Capricorn-day while the Moon is on the wane... I don't have
the slightest idea why, but (sometimes) it works rather well, I saw a garden
created new on a former vacant-lot kept clean with only 3 or 4 times worked
in and the last time we hardly had a bucket-full of weeds.
So Long,
H.!

Hi. I am planning to plant cosmos outside our fence along our lane to
eliminate the need for constant weed whipping there. Now, I must kill
out all the weeds and grass first. No edible garden nearby, but the
rain water runs downhill into a stream at the bottom of our lane. I
certainly don't want to contaminate it any more than it probably already
is from others' stupidity. How about Rodeo? I'm told it is safe near
water. I could lay down plastic or newspapers to kill out next year's
growth and plant them the next year, I suppose, but I'd like to get them
going. I know that weed seedlings can live for many years, too, so all
I can hope for is to get them down long enough for the cosmos to gain a
foothold. They really like it here, and resseed freely.
