Heelge Blaue wrote that the clue to a big weed kill is to weed when the moon
is on the wane (decreasing)but adds that she doesn't know why.

I don't either but I've also been told by many that it is true and that the
best time to plant is with the when the moon is waxing (increasing). I've
heard some explana tions that want to tie this in with the rising or
lowering water table.

Does anyone know of any references or have any other explanations? Also how
does one know if the moon is waxing or waning.
