Many years ago when I was a uniformed officer on the police department,
some of the officers had "billy clubs," excuse me, I meant to say "night
sticks," excuse me, better make that "batons" made out of what they
called "bodock." They were popular in those days -- very heavy, dense,
hard, virtually unbreakable wood. I think the correct name was "beau
d'arc" and it was actually Osage Orange. Do I remember correctly?
