At the time we bought our newly constructed house about three years ago,
the gardensoil was completely wormles. I worked in lots of compost, mostly
to improve the soil structure, but also to provide the occasional worm
passing by with something to eat. After that, I left the soil mostly to
its own for two years (lots of weedpulling nowadays, but that is a
different story), apart from the occasional application of more compost on
top of the soil. Pulling those weeds, it becomes obvious that the worms
liked my approach.
