Subject: Strimmers From: Kay Bullen at Hedgehog Helpline <hedgehg@dircon.co.uk> Organization: Date: Mon, 26 Apr 99 03:57:53 Message-ID: <MOD$990426.006@rec.gardens.ecosystems>
We have received our first strimmer injury of the year. The poor hedgehog
has had a flap sliced on his nose. It is infected and it may not be
possible to save the flap and stitch it back into position. Because his
nose is so important for finding food if it cannot be repaired he will have
to be put to sleep.
We can tell it is a strimmer injury because some of the spines on his back
have also been strimmed so he has a patch of shortened prickles, luckily the
skin on his back was not damaged.
The moral to the story is check long grass and brambles etc before strimming
them.
