I can't answer specifically because I live in a different climate,
different grass, but I've done this and generally:
I wanted a machine built for our climate, that has a *good* powered
grass collection,(I often have to collect lush damp grass) and
automatic (hydrostatic) transmission.Get the biggest engine you can
afford.Briggs and Stratton engines cope well here.
Ask as many people as you can who have a sit-on, for their opinion
good or bad on the make, and ditto re their supplier and servicer. From
this I found a lot of people who regretted the machine they
bought,(usually built for another climate) and the reasons why a make
would or would not suit.Go to a couple of suppliers and look.Take a
great deal of notice of how helpful and informed the supplier is.I
bought from one who made a real effort to find out what my needs
were, and gave a free demo at my garden with no obligation. His
servicing is good too.
Another much closer stockist, who couldnt be bothered with my
questions, tried to sell me an unsuitable machine and would not
demonstrate it, didnt get my business.
