Does anyone have any personal recommendations for hand-tools to use in
cutting high grass with loads of dandelions and other tough weeds, and
knows where such tools can be prurchased in the US? I purchased a tool
called a grass whip, but this proved to be largely useless. There is a
similar tool with a heavier blade though with not quite as comfortable a
grip. I can't imagine doing a whole acre with this thing, as it seems
rather tough on the wrists. Any experience with these, and do you know what
they're called? I also have a reel mower, but I need to get the grass short
first before this will be of any use.

I would really like to try an old-fashioned scythe, but have no idea where
I could buy one, or at least get my hands on one first to see how
comfortable it would be to use. I have about an acre of grass here, and it
will be quite a bit of work, but I would like to keep the noise level down
and get some exercise in the bargain.

Thanks a lot,

Sean Conlon
