Subject: Pruning large Oaktrees--now or late spring?? From: "Stephan Jennebach" <jenne@home.com> Organization: @Home Network Date: Wed, 13 Oct 99 03:00:02 Message-ID: <MOD$991012.7230@rec.gardens.ecosystems>
I have four large oak trees in the backyard that are in desperate need of a
professional pruning job. I did some research about how I would want them to
be cut, but I'm arguing with my wife about the best timing. Somewhere I read
that very early spring, let's say late February here in Southeast MN, would
actually be better for the healing process. I guess they said that the trees
are still dormant when they're being cut, but they would "wake up" shortly
after and start sealing the wounds. That as supposed to a November trimming
where the wounds would be open all winter and allow potential desease.
What's your opinion??
