Dear Sri Varadarajan,

Swami Desikan's "daya satakam" is the "dhanam", the
"neengAdha-selvam" -- the eternal spiritual
commonwealth -- that the "AchArya" has left behind for
all of us. For those who find no adequate or
fulfilling way to offer worship to Lord
TiruvenkatamudaiyAn, the best and easiest way is to
take up the "daya satakam" and render it faithfully.

Towards the same purpose my mother's musical rendition
of the daya satakam has truly helped several
'aasthikAs'. I am so very happy to know that you are
also a great admirer and 'sadhaka' of the 'daya
satakam' and that my mother Smt Mani Krishnaswami's
rendition of it has a special place in your heart.

As you know I live and work in Kuwait but my father
and my family live in Chennai. So, you are most
welcome to call on my father SrimAn Madabushi
Krishnaswamy. He was the main inspiration and "karta'
behind the prodcution of the commercial recording of
the 'daya satakam'. For some years thanks to my
father's efforts, and thanks to the kind-heartedness
of the then officials of the TTD (Tirumala Tirupati
Devasthanam), the recording of my mother's "daya
satakam' rendition used to be played on the public
address sysem all over the Tirumala Hills soon after
the Friday "tirumanjanam". The holy hills used to
resonate with the splendid poesy of Swami Desikan's
most exquisitoe of verses found in the "daya satakam".
But that was only for a few brief years. Vested
interests quite inimical to the larger interests of
the SriVaishnava laity later surreptitiously conspired
with the TTD authorities to revoke and cancel the
playing of the "daya satakam" on the Tirumal Hills.
This was a very unfortunate step indeed the reversal
of which I await now for several years in the fervent
hope that Lord Venkateshwara will somehow intervene in
the matter and arrange for the recommencement of
playing the 'daya satakam' on the Hills for his own
delight and delectation.

I am so glad to hear from someone like you who is an
ardent 'rasika' of not only my late mother Smt Mani
Krishnaswami but also a lover of swami desikan's 'daya
satakam'.

My father SrimAn Krishnaswami is now more than 81
years old. He will be happy to receive you in Chennai.
I shall also send word to him. You are most welcome to
call on him during your upcoming visit to Chennai. His
address is as follows:

             10/6, Mohanam Apartments,
             First Street,
             Abhiramapuram, Chennai-600 018.
             Telephone: 2499 5758

I am leaving for UK on 21st on a business tour and
will fly in from there to Chennai on the 28th Dec. I
will be in Chennai myself between Dec 29 and Jan 5th.
If you happen to be there during those days, it will
be my own delight to meet you and have a talk.

May the Lord of Tirumala bless you and your family
with all good and auspcious things in the new year and
all your life.

regds,
daasan,
Sudarshan MK
