Respected Swamin,

I think we are going in a circle!

Please go through the previous mail on Kula deivam, phalana deivam and ishta deivam.

Everyone will have a connection with some form of Lord. The Voor perumal is the foremost one in anyone's life. Periaazhwar had. Ramanuja had.

These gods are guiding us. But The 'Vidhi' as known from aazhwars, acharyas and from practices that can be traced to more than 2000 years ago (there are scriptural evidence which will be posted in my blog soon) is what Vuyya kOndaar reiterated in his Thanyan to Thiruppavai which we are saying even to this day.

It is

"VEnkatavarkku ennai Vidhi" endra immaatram,

naan kadavaa vaNnamE nalgu".

The purpose of my mails was to remind the vidhi of remembering Thiruvenkatamudayan as Kula deivam.

He is to be remembered before starting any kaaryam.

The first 'mudicchu' is to Him.

It had been so in all Vaishnavite families – you can enquire with old timers.

The other forms of Vishnu are worshiped as per one's desire, circumstances and attractions. They / we all continue to worship so.

But don't forget Venkatavan, because the injunction exists –

which we are seeing in reality in Jyothisha too.

Jyothisha gives a greater clarity about gods and worship methods.

There are only 2 sets of God worship. They are Vishnu group and Shiva group. All the others are mlecha – we have indications and can identify how the mlecha worshippers can get into future births of any of these two groups.

Within the two groups itself, we can tell the spiritual evolution in a birth and how the worship can transfer from one group to another in the next birth.

We can even say how the shift from one deity to another deity can happen within a same group.

We can even say if the one coming in a traditional family of worshippers is violating or forgetting the tradition.

I have even seen staunch bhakthas with some problems, which can be apparently linked to none other than the Perumal in Thiruppathy.

Moon is the crucial planet in one's horoscope. He is not only a manO karaka but also a determiner for thoughts, views, impulses, emotions, actions and re-actions.

Thiruppathy is the Kshethra for Moon!

It is through Moon, Venkatavan takes up an invisible role in every human being's life.

With this Jyothishic knowledge  and corroboratory wisdom from Acharya's commentaries and practices in many families, in addition to evidence in Tamil texts of yore, I can not sit quiet when I think this must be reminded about.

It is like this.

Kula deivam indisputably is Venkatavan.

Phalana deivam is indicated in the horoscope.

A person may or may not know about that god.

This deivam may be worshipped or prayed by the person without knowing it as the phalana deivam. There are cases where a person may not be worshipping. But even then this deivam will be coming after him and guiding him.

The role of Phalana deivam is such that.

Its connection comes by poorva punyam.

But ishta deivam can be anyone. It is this devatha that most us are able to connect with.

We interact with this deivam in all moods - praise, sing, fight, accuse, accept, cry and surrender.

But that does not mean we can forego our dues to Venkatavan. His role is that of Rains that make life flourish in accordance with their swabhava and lakshana so that they prosper. If we don't recognize that, He knows how to collect the dues. That is what is doing in this age!

If one has to progress, he or she has to choose a form and a name. If a tradition of a family is worshiping a particular form of SrI Vishnu --Â in arcAmoorthy. This may be SrIÂ Ranganatha, Sri Venkateswara, SrI Kanchi Varadar or Melkote's Selva NarayaNa or still some other kshEtram.
