Dear SrI SrInath :

Iyal GhOshti has a special significance in the apara Kaaryam
sequence of performing the rituals.

It is deeply connected to the Manthrarthams (esoteric
meanings ) of the most sacred manthram for SrI VaishNavAs,
AshtAksharam .

The inner meanings of the Four Thousand sacred collect
splits this way :

Mudal Aayiram: Extolls the meaning of PraNavam
( 947 Paasurams)

Second Thousand deals with the deep meanings of
the Nama: Sabdham (1134 Paasurams).

Third Aayiram ( ThiruvAimozhi) is an elaboration of
NaarAyaNa Sabdham ( 1102).

The "fourth Aayiram " ( IyaRppA ) is a celebration of
the Fourth Case (Chathurthi Vibakthi ) , The Aaya
sabddham associated with the NaarAyana Sabdham.
It consists of 817 Paasurams from 6 AzhwArs and
RaamAnuja NooRRandhAthi .

IyaRRppA is considered as the "NiRaivu Pahuthi" or
the concluding /Fulfilment phase of dhivya prabhandham
(recitationS).

This Aaya Sabdham (IyaRRppA section) symbolizes
the Phalan (fruit )of being Sesha bhUthan to the Sarva Seshi
SrIman NaarAyaNan and performing Nithya Kaimkaryam to
Him in SrI Vaikuntam and enjoying ParipoorNa BrahmAnandham
through that Kaimkaryam .

The Iyal ghOshti and the anusandhAnam of the Full
IyaRppA on the 13th day of apara Kaaryam is to
recognize that the Jeevan has attained Vaikunta Vaasa PrApthi
and its enjoyment of parama purushArTam there as a result
of having performed either Bhakthi yOgam or SaraNAgathi with
the unique upakAram of one's AchAryan .

The AchAryAs , AchArya paramaparai and the AzhwArs
are specially remembered and saluted on this 13th day
for their ParamOpakArams (pORRi Uhappathu) for the departed
Muktha Jeevan to arrive at SrI Vaikuntam .

The anusandhAnam of IyaRRppA on this 13th day is also
to invoke the deep meanings of AshtAksharam in
a SrI VaishNavan's life journey concluding at
SrI Vaikuntam to enjoy Saayujya mOksham .

The Sugar cane carried in the hands of the GhOshti
Members is symbolic of the ParipoorNa BrahmAnandham
enjoyed by the MukthAthmA at SrI VaikunTam in one
intrepretation .

All mangala Kaaryams can start again after the Iyal
GhOshti anusandhAnam for the one , who performed
the Kaimkaryams to the departed soul .

This is the significance and symbolism of
the Iyal GhOshti in our tradition.
