Other medium sized ones are also known. All can be worshipped at home. because of the irrational fear of size and correlating it to some ugra power , people give them away to the temples. Bhagavaan is present as "aNOr aNIyAn , MahathOr mahIyAn" (Smaller than the atom and bigger than the biggest). In SaaLagrAma Moorthams , his soulabhyam is specail. Hence one does not need to be afraid . Regarding your other question , there is no limit to numbers except that 3 to a dozen smaller sized ones are containable from a practicality point of of view in thelimited space of Koil AzhwAr. At big sannidhis like Sudarsana AzhwAr Sannidhi at Kaanchi, you will find a large assembage of Sudarsana SaalagrAmams alone.
