Sri Krishnaya Namah!

The first thing that we should do to avoid such situations is to dedicate
our mind to Narayana. It is said that those who forget Lord Vishnu they
meet danger and fortune favours those who are constantly engaged in
Narayana smaranam (vipad vismarano vishnu; sampannarayana smruthihi).

We bring along with us a baggage of Karma (prarabdha) which has to be
experienced till it gets wiped out, as karma, punya and papam all these are
bound to kshaya(deminishes over time). We need to experience this
prarabdha with a pinch of salt along with a philosophical bent of mind. BG
helps in possessing this mind set.

The other part that hounds us ever since we born is the influence of maya
and in this kaliyuga it is even more difficult to ascertain what is good or
bad in every frame of our life. Hence life is aptly called as chain of
experiences, where one tend to get perfect as and when he is experienced.

Provided we have good internal / external atmosphere, whether in home or
elsewhere, we get cultured and thus gain satvik knowledge for our
betterment. If the above and our intellect, work in tandem and with His
krupa, we may guide our life in sathvik path. My ignorant mind thinks that
whatever path we choose (sathvik, rajasic or tamasic), choose it early in
our life so that there is adequate time retrace our path and introspect
later (if we are rajasic or tamasic) and better late than never, when truth
dawns on us, and He graces us, we have some more time to retrace our step
and make good the loss of time. In other words, if we choose our path as
sathvik, say when we are 20, slowly we have to stride that path with
determination and perfection is not a thing which is experienced overnight
and by 40 if we are perfect, say in respect of control over our emotions,
egoless etc., then we are left with another 20-30 years to have Him in us
and in His smaranam. Basically, we have to decide on what we should do and
many a time the influence of maya and prarabdha will take us against our
wishes. Come what may, we should not deter from our goal.

Thus, we have to choose the path early and start early. It will take
several births to gain perfection, but we should not deter or take back our
step towards God realisation. When we are babies of circumstances and
tend to overreact to any situation, we should feel bad later and take that
as an experience for learning to control emotion in future. Always we
should be introspecting and be within ourselves. Hearing the inner voice
and should act as we should act.

All through our life, in this age, we should try and encourage our mind to
go for finer things in life - like hearing harikathas, BG, SMB. We should
do Sandhyavandanam, nama japam and attend spiritual discourses. Have
philosophical and spiritual bent of mind. Always reach out for highest of
knowledge, i.e., vedas, upanishad etc., These are typical life style of a
sathvik person.

Above all, Narayana smaranam is the surefire answer for vagaries of life
and its circumstances. Daily do ashtakari japam, chant purusha suktham,
Narayana suktham etc., when time permits. Ashtakari japam, if one does
with devotion, is enough for all our emotional illness. Have Narayana
beside you always thru Narayana Japam in your mind. Reach out for Him,
whenever you take a faulty step or dealt a situation differently and plead
with Him of His mercy. Saying is easier than doing, but if Narayana nama
is present in our lips, and His smaranam in our mind always, we will be
devoid of these illness.

Sukumar

DEAR MEMBERS

Lord says that if one has to attain him he should be devoid of the three
demonic qualities desire, anger, greed ( XVI). Greed is something I can
understand. But in our day to day life we develop desires and acquire
things and sometimes get angry also when things happen around us not to our
taste either within family or society so on. how do we handle such
situations/

Pranams
