Daer Sangeetha :
Garudan is found in the standing position with folded hands or in Kneeling position or with folded
hands  or in flying position with the Lord on His back . He carries the Lord's sacred feet in His
palms during Garuda Sevai to reveal those feet as our sole protection . Four forms of Garuda
are seated on the walls of the temples like Taarkshyaa et al .They are for the protection of the Lord's temple .
Some times Garudan will have 2 hands and other times , He will have four hands ( two carrying VishNu
lakshaNa of Disc and Conch) . Most of the times , He will be placed opposite the Lord and in rare cases ,
He will be on the same peetam  with the Lord (SrivilliputthUr , ThErazhunthUr) .

Please refer to the e-books on Garudan in the Sundara Simham series ( Garuda DaNDakam) and
Ahobilavalli series ( Garuda PanchAsath) for more details on Garudan & His glories .

Subject: [Oppiliappan] Garudan

Greetings all,

What are the different postures of Garudan that we can find? Is there any significance for each posture?

Regards,
Sangeetha
