Sri: SrimathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya nama: Dearest all, For everyone to see and enjoy, Sriman Narayana, the Jagath kaaraNan took the huge form as Trivikraman in His avathAram. VishNu word is mostly referred to Trivikrama avathAram in Vedas; and AazhwAr who immserses himself in vibhava, archA avathArams, begin to enjoy Trivikrama avathAram here in this verse. oNmidhiyil punaluruvi orukaal niRpa orukaaluNG kaamaruseer avuNan uLLatthu, eNmadhiyuNG kadanthaNda meedhu pOgi iruvisumbi NnoodupO yezhundhu mElaith thaNmathiyum kathiravanum thavira Odith thaaragaiyin puRandhadavi appaal mikku, maNmuzhuthum agappadutthu ninRa endhai malar_puraiyum thiruvadiyE vaNangi NnEnE. 5 orukaal ? One lotus foot oN midhiyil ? by placing the same on the Universe most beautifully punal uruvi ? by cutting across the samashti waters beyond the universe, tearing it apart to extend beyond; niRpa ? considering that it is enough; it stopped with that. Oru kaal um yezhundhu ? the Other lotus Foot also raised itself Kaamaruseer avuNan ? the most auspicious endearing asuran, Mahabali uLLatthu yeNN mathiyum kadanthu ? going beyond the thoughts that come into the mind (of Mahabhali) even; aNdam meedhu poagi ? extended beyond the skies; iruvisumbin oodu pOi ? entered through the skies and into them mElai thaNNmathiyum ? the cool moon kathiravanum- the Solar system thavira Odi- they all became lower elements (the leg extended above all of these) thArakaiyin puRam thadavi ? the stars and their system are also touched and extended beyond them even; appal mikku maNN muzhudhum ? Beyond all of these; thus the whole worlds agappadutthu ninRa ? are retained under His lotus Feet enthai- My father, my Lord Trivikraman?s malar puraiyum ? the lotus flower like thiruvaDiyE ? Divine Lotus Feet alone vaNanginEn ? (adiyEn) prostrates at Them. In the yaagam of Mahabali Chakravartthi, the dwarf like Vaamanan as a small Brahmin bachelor boy, went begged for three measures of earth, showing his cute small feet, Bhali immediately offered to grant with waters from his kamaNdalu, then and there, the Lord took huge Trivikrama avathAram measuring the bhoo maNdalam in one step; other step to extend beyond the skies. Maabhali never even thought that he had been deceived. Instead, he felt great and happy that he is blessed with this great bhAgyam of giving to the Lord. Who will have such a mind to give it all? Though he had taken the same from Devas, now he has become bhagyavaan. Hence AzhwAr praises him saying, ?kaamaru seer avuNan?. He started thinking, how will he measure? How will he measure the upper world? In one step? Or two steps? He could not comprehend them all. Beyond his thinking faculty, even faster than his thought process, the Lord took huge Trivikrama avathAram and measured the universe extending beyond everything. It went beyond Sathyaloka and the thumb entered into the Samashti jalam (waters). That waters became later ganges- Purana says. Thus from this very act itself, it is distinctly clear that He, my dearest Father is the Paramathama; my Swami. He did not want his property to become more asuric. Hence he wanted the Lord to touch everything thus making it sacred. He touched the universe with His lotus Feet. Sankha rathAnga kalpaka dvajAvindhaankusa vajra lAnchanam? AzhwAr feels that had we been there at that time, we would have been touched by His Lotus Feet and would have been saved; We would have enjoyed the lines underneath His Lotus Feet. Oh mind, at least now we are blessed to pay our obeisance. Great. Thus with His divya mangaLa vigraham itself, He grew and occupied eberywhere; Is there any wonder, He manifests as antharyaami in everything and in everyone? Swamy Desikan described beautifully in dehaleesa sthuthi sthora on Lord Trivikraman of ThirukkOviloor Divya Desam, (in sloka 10) bhakthapriya tvayi tathA parivardhamAnE mukthA vithAna vithathis tava pUrvamAseeth I hArAvaLi : paramathO rasanA kalApa: tArA gaNas tadhanu mowkthika nUpura sree: II Oh Lord! The one who pours affections and showers mercy on devotees! As You grew so huge into a staggering size as Trivikraman on the sacrificial arena of Bali, first the sky that is star studded with surface as the canopy of Your divya thirumukham (on the Head), a lovely pearl (immediately) necklace around Your neck; You grew so fast that the stars soon became the waist band, a diamond studded girdle, (ottiyANam); within no time, the same star studded assembly appeared to serve as an ornament to Your Lotus Feet- as anklets All in all- the stars seek to serve You in a variety of ways! Am I also not entitled to serve You? Please enable me to be your servant. [Sri Satakopan Swamy writes] Swami dEsikan is till awe struck over the adhbhutham that happened at the tiny dEhaLi at ThirukkOvalUr. The thought of the Lord, who expanded in all eight directions to pervade the universe shrinking now to a tiny form to squeeze Himself, fills the mind of Swami Desikan and he once again reflects on that viswa rUpam of the Lord as Trivikraman. He concludes that it is the bhaktha vaatsalyam of the Viswa rUpi that made Him take the tiny from to enter the crowded dEhaLi to be near His dear ones. Swami addresses DehaLeesan and says: In his dasAvathAra sthOthram , Swami Desikan has saluted the gigantic strides of Lord Trivikraman as " Traivikrama: vikrama: na avathu ) . Swami's mind starts with the Lord's thirumudi (crown ) and ends at the sacred feet . He sees around those feet the sky (canopy with bejewelled stars ) serving as the silambhus ( NUParams ) . Swami visualizes that limitless form of the Lord as TrivikramA transforming itself to a tiny from to fit the proportions of the dEhaLI to be close to his parama bhakthAs .
