anukAram in archAvathAram

When a loved soul is separated from the other and cannot reach the other, the
feelings take different shapes. One is praNaya kalaham. Another is madal.
Another is sending emissaries. Talking of the auspicious qulities and
sustaining oneself, is another -GOvindhan guNam pAdi Avi kAthiruppEAnEA- ANdAL

There is yet another form this manifests into. The soul acts in the manner of
the loved one and tries to assuage the feelings and yearnings.

This is called anukAram. GopikAs of AippADi were deeply yearning for Lord
krishNA. One acted like krishNA, enacted kALInga nardhanam. One gOpikA was
kALingan, one was a gopikA, one was Lord kirshNA and so on. This way they could
 assuage their feelings.
