SrI:

Dear SrI Varadaraja BhakthAs :

Some three years ago , Sri Narayanan ,
son of Sri Vaikunta Vaasi , Kurucchi  Swamy ,
who served as SrI Kaaryam for HH the 44th Jeeyar (?)
breifed me on the start of renovating the Abheeshta Varadha
Temple at his family's native village . I mentioned to him
at that time the success in his efforts will be enhanced if
he forms a network of people with family  links to
Kurucchi agrahAram known for its Vedic Scholars .

Patiently , Sri Narayan built the network and has
raised the funds to arrive at the day of Mahaa
SamprOkshaNam . It is delightful to hear this
good news . Here is a message for all of us here .
In these days of increased requests to support many
kaimkaryams , the sure way to succeed is to build
up such sthalam related network thru research and
form a tight group to raise the funds and deploy it .
I congratulate Sri Narayanan and his team and wish them
continued success to complete the remaining work .

Those with Kurucchi or Mannargudi connections
are requested to join . Thanks Sri Badri Nathan for
breifing me .

Event: Maha Kumbabishekam ? 14th September 2007

Temple: Over 600 years old and was in a bad shape for several years

Deity: Sri. Abheeshta Varadan & Sri. Perundevi Thayar

Location: Kurichi Village ? 7 miles south on Mannargudi on Muthupettai Road

Background: Earlier, this village was called Guru Sri Puram, and over the years, it became Kurichi. Kurichi village had produced several eminent Vidwans, Vedic Pundits, Agama experts and experts in secular fields. Over the years, due to migration of village people seeking employment to towns and cites, the temple maintenance gradually deteriorated and was in a very bad shape. About 3 years back, the Lord appeared in the dream of an young executive (hailing from Kurichi, but who had not even seen it) and ordained upon him to take up renovation. His father was Secretary to HH Jeer of Sri. Ahobila Mutt. Almost all Acharyas visited Kurichi during the earlier days. Since this incident, the momentum started to locate the people originally belonged to Kurichi village and several discussions, communications were held to find the native people belonging to Kurichi village. Today, over 200 people (about 40 families) have been located who were originally from Kurichi Village. With the like minded people, KURICHI SEVA TRUST was formed in Chennai and funds were raised through individual contribution to rebuild this ancient temple.

Over Rs. 20 Lakhs have been spent in rebuilding and renovating this 600+ years old temple. Another about Rs. 10 Lakhs required to complete the task. The Maha Kumbabishekam activities will start on 11th  September and the Maha Kumbabishekam would take place on 14th September from 7:30 am onwards.
