THE IMMACULATE DIVINE
POET AND HIS ETERNAL MAGNUM OPUS
Why is Sri Nam-AzhwAr so great? For his
great devotion? Immense affection? For his dedication or for his steadfastness
of considering the EmperumAn as His food and water throughout his
life?
When we talk of Thirumangai AzhwAr we
eulogise him as 'nAlu-kavip perumAL' and
consume his great poetic prowess. Is ParAnkusa a lesser poet? While Sri
Nam-AzhwAr used the great tamil language as a platform for his mission,
Sri Thirumangai AzhwAr used it as a language. Does that make him a lesser
poet?
Coming to think of it, the Thiruvirutham,
the ThriuvAsiriyam, The Periya ThiruvandhAdhi and The ThriuvAimOzhi are all
andhAdhi-s.
Composing andhAdhi for a few songs is the
most difficult thing in life and these string of divine works speaks volumes of
his greatness.
The next question comes up. He might have
composed andhAdhi-s but are the contents dense ? The love and affection and the
emotions come out as pAsuram-s and therefore indeed the contents are
packed with love, bakthi, affection and a leading path for us. These pAsuram-s
talk of the Lord.
Well, the doubting thomases still say
'even vAlmiki has come out with a wonderful work called 'srimadh RamAyaNam'
talking of Chakravarhtith Thriumagan. ParAsara maharishi involved himself in the
making of KrshNA's pranks and valours'.So what is great? they may
question.
The nithya-sUrigaL in the parama-padham
are always in the 'service to EmepurmAn -The service for EmperumAn'. They do not
have any other thinking. The mukhtAs are also similar to this state. Hence,
these two do not have any thought of composing such works.
vAlmiki bhagavAn is attached to Sri
RamAvathAram. Sri parAsara vyAsA-s have dedicated their poems to
krishNAvathAram.
Sanakamuni is for
archAvathAram.
Then who is there to compose divine psAlms
and hymns of devotion of EmperumAn -The EmepurumAn Parathvam -The EmperumAn
vyUham- The EmperumAn vibhavam -The EmpeurmAn antharyAmi and The EmepurmAn
archAVathAram.
It is SwAmy Nam-AzhwAr who has the great
power of composing divine songs on the EmperumAn Parathvam -vAnak
kOne;
The EmepurmAn vibhavam- kudamADi; The
EmeprumAn antharyami- eNdisaiyum thaviRAdhu ninRAn;
And this is declared by Sri ParAnkusA
himself in the ThriuvAiMoshi
'vAnathum vAnathuL
vumbarum-maN vuLLum -maNNin kEzh dhAnathum,
eNdhisaiyum thaviRAdhu
ninRAn thannai,
kUnaR sangath thadaikkai
avanai, kudamADiyai,
vAnak kOnai kavi solla
vallEARku ini mARuNDEA" 3-5-9;
Is there any other divine poet at
par with him?
'ini
mARuNDEA?
